… Research by the SPD Foundation indicates that 1 in every 20 children experiences symptoms of Sensory Processing Disorder that are significant enough to affect their ability to participate fully in everyday life. Symptoms of SPD, like those of most disorders, occur within a broad spectrum of severity. While most of us have occasional difficulties processing sensory information, for children and adults with SPD, these difficulties are chronic, and they disrupt everyday life. SPD is most commo …

… Starting in 2011 we have shifted to two hour "mini-conferences", where we offer presentations and talks on specific topics that parents of children on the autism spectrum often need to know more about. We'll meet less frequently (and save you a trip and one more commitment!) but will offer the added value of a talk plus plenty of time for informal group discussion as well. Our first "mini-conference" was May 7th and was very well received. Stay tuned for future events, and always feel free t …

Siblings are welcome to participate and a parent is required to attend. Parents are necessary to help our kids as needed to have a fun time and encourage them. As …

But our kids need friends, too...friends who also are very cautious about exposure and staying away from crowded places! We'll be organizing trips to fun places that may be safer for our kids than he typical playground meetup as well as virtual meetups utilizing web cams or the mail.

Our group was created to meet other adoptive parents in the Sacramento area. We support each other at monthly meetings and online. We hold monthly activities for the whole family. We organize trainings to educate ourselves about the issues inherent in adoption and in raising children who may have special needs. The group works as a network to help each other with ideas in childraising and in finding solutions to challenges we face.

No Kidding! is a social/activities club for singles and couples who have never parented (do not have children); either childfree (by choice) or childless (by circumstances). We are not a support group or dating service. The term "childfree" has come to mean something different than simply not having children or not yet having children. To many, it represents a well thought-out decision to refrain from bearing or raising children. This social club is designed to make friends and attend activities …
